The Communication Department at Salalah college of Applied sciences is a unique academic community aiming towards creating future communicators in Sultanate of Oman.

The department runs its four year graduate program across four specialties in Digital Media, Public Relations, Journalism (Print) and International Communication.

Among the distinctive highlights of the department are its emphasis on integrating communication theory with practice, a global focus from a local perspective, and keeping the role of media and communication processes in shaping the social realities.

  1. Digital Media:

    Digital Media has become one of the fastest growing industries in the world. To secure a key slice of this growing market, the need to support and educate creative talent in this field is vital to the creation and management of superior audio visual content.

    This communication specialization develops fundamental skills and knowledge in conceiving and producing content for the broadcast industry ( Television and Radio) as well.

  2. Public Relations:

    Public relations is one of the most popular career choices today amongst graduates. Public relations is about reputation management- the result of what you do, what you say and what others say about you. Public relations is the discipline, which looks after reputation and image of an organization with the aim of earning understanding and support and influencing opinion and behaviour. It is the planned and sustained effort to establish and maintain goodwill and mutual understanding between an organisation and its publics

    This specialization aims to equip knowledge of the history, structure, and development of Media and communication technology in a global context. Course aims to obtain a thorough overview of the Mass media Communication, its regulation, policies, ethics and technology which surround and control its growth and development across the globe. Students will gain a general knowledge of media and communication studies within the context of globalization; the work of international organizations and non-governmental organizations in development communication; political communication; media representation; media audiences; communications policy; and trans-national media systems.

  4. Journalism (Print Media ) :

    Journalism specializations are now the most sought-after by students in many of the Universities, globally. Simply put, journalism is the collecting, writing, editing, and presenting of news or feature articles for one of the media: newspapers, magazines, broadcast, or online. It involves reporting on ideas and events as they occur - from a car accident to the booking of flight tickets to moon. It's like always learning something new. Journalism can be hard work. But there's a payoff: its work that matters. Journalism makes a difference. Your stories can touch readers and inspire action.
